Security: 20 years of Poland in NATO

Renaud Girard

Renaud Girard is a French journalist, alumni of the Ecole Normale Supérieure and the Ecole Nationale d'Administration.

 

International reporter and war reporter for Le Figaro newspaper since 1984, he has covered almost all major political crises and armed conflicts on the planet for the last thirty years. An expert in geopolitics, he has written several books on the Middle East and often intervenes in the media, as well as regularly leads international conferences. He is a professor of strategy, geostrategy and international relations at Sciences Po Paris, awarded numerous prizes for his work.

Adam Hałaciński

Experienced Diplomat and Ambassador, graduated from the University in Warsaw with a degree in German studies and political studies. He gained various experience at multi and bilateral diplomatic missions, including the Polish Permanent Mission to the OSCE as well as at the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Vienna, where he served as the Deputy Head of mission.

 

He was appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Poland in the Kingdom of Sweden in 2010. He served as the Director of the Department responsible for relations between Poland and countries of Central Europe. In 2017 appointed as Head of Security Policy Department at the Polish MFA. 

Karolina Zbytniewska

Karolina Zbytniewska is an EU-policy expert and commentator, editor and journalist. She graduated from European and American Affairs at the University of Warsaw and the Freie Universitaet in Berlin. After an experience in the European Parliament, the Ministry of the Environment, and in many media as a freelance journalist, she joined EURACTIV.pl in 2010. Later on, she also became the managing director and editor-in-chief. She often represents the editorial team on radio and television as an expert on European, American and international issues.

Wojciech Lorenz

Wojciech Lorenz is a Senior Analyst on the International Security Programme at The Polish Institute of International Affairs (PISM).

 

His areas of research include NATO, Polish security and defense policy, international conflicts and deterrence. In 2013-2014 he served as a civilian specialist for the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan. Also, prior to joining PISM in 2012 he covered international affairs as an editor in the Polish Section of the BBC World Service (2001-2006) and as a reporter for the daily newspaper Rzeczpospolita. Wojciech graduated from the University of Wroclaw and completed post-graduate studies in International Relations and Diplomacy at Collegium Civitas in Warsaw. 

Benoit d'Aboville

Benoît d’Aboville, a former career diplomat, has been posted in Washington, Moscow, Geneva Madrid (CSCE) and New York. Former Deputy Political Director. French Ambassador in Prague, Warsaw and Brussels (NATO). Senior Auditor at the National Audit Office (Cour des Comptes) (2005-2011). Member of the National Defense “White Book” Commission (2007-2008).

 

Since 2014, Vice President of the “Fondation pour la Recherche Stratégique” in Paris, member of the Board and Vice President of the “Institute of International Humanitarian Law” in San Remo and Geneva, chairman of the editorial board of “Revue de la Defense Nationale”. Professor at Sciences Po Paris / Paris School of International Affairs (PSIA).
